Medical Electrode Forming

eProjects

Christian Andino, Martin Metz, Fynn Meyerhoff, Gavin Nielsen, Xzekiel Trevino

Summary

The team has partnered with Becton Dickinson to improve the manufacturing process of electrodes for the WaveLinQ EndoAVF System, a minimally invasive solution for creating arteriovenous fistulas in End-Stage Kidney Disease patients. The current manual forming method leads to inefficiencies, high scrap rates and scalability issues. The team is developing an automated wire-forming device that integrates engineering principles from ASU, including circuit and PCB design, manufacturing and computer-aided modeling. This solution combines automated mechanical forming with electronic control systems to reduce variability, improve consistency and enhance product quality.
